Last weekend the 29th and 30th September the Senior England Championships incorporating the CAU Championships were held.

Josie Oliarnyk was representing Halesowen A&CC and Worcestershire. Josie (aged 17!) was 3rd in the English Championships and 2nd in the CAU, with a 5.92m long jump, 6cm off her (legal) PB.

The other Halesowen athletes who made the tough qualifying standards, also representing Worcestershire were Joe Rogers (19) who qualified in the heats for the 400m semi- final in 49.82 secs. also Saturday 29th.  On Sunday 30th, Charles Hilliard (17) qualified in his 200m heat for the semi-final in 22.00 and was 6th in the SF 22.04.  It is understood that Halesowen has never had previously such success at a national senior level.  Josie and Charles are coached by Dominic Mcneillis and Joe by Peter Coates.

Josie’s father supplied pictures. On the rostrum are 1st Katie Stainton (Birchfield) 6.07 and 2nd Eleanor Broome (Rugby and Northants) 5.99. The individual pictures are of Josie.
