Saturday 23rd February saw a mean team of thirteen head north to the grounds of Harewood House in Leeds for the English National Cross Country Championships.
The races were held on a challenging course in glorious sunny conditions with temperatures reaching the dizzying heights of 16C!
In the junior men’s race, Matthew Wilkinson finished in 189th in 38:59 and Lily Higgins was 43rd in the junior women’s race in 23:55.
The main event was the Senior Men’s race over 7.3 miles which featured a field of 2,006 athletes.
First home for the club was Adam Cross who was 530th in 45:17, edging out Peter Dear who was 559th in 45:34.
Jonathan Lewis came in in 773rd place in 47:26 and there was an excellent return to action from Mark Hadley, who finished in 852nd place in 48:11.
David Lewis was 875th in 48:27 and the scoring six was completed by James Hoult who was 1,058th in 50:09.
And completing the Halesowen line-up were Alex Morgan (1,431st, 54:07), James Parker (1,543rd, 55:41), Andy Nock (1,691st, 58:12), Bill Nock (1,696th, 58:18) and Jamie Sircom (1,844th, 62:15).
In the team competition, we finished 67th out of 144 teams in the main six-man event and we were 49th out of 74 in the nine-man standings.
