National Lockdown: statement from chair Steven Millington

An important message from athletics section chair, Steven Millington:

I’m sure you are aware that the country will enter a second period of lockdown from 00:01 GMT on Thursday 5th November.
As a result of this, all club activities will cease from 22:00 GMT on Wednesday 4th November 2020 until further notice.
The clubhouse, changing rooms and showers, Smithy and main gym will all be closed.
The club grounds and track will remain open for socially distanced use with the floodlights switched on from 6.30pm until 8.30 pm.
Members are allowed to drive short distances to use the facilities,

Parents can take their children to the track to do some form of activity. They should not meet their friends nor should children be left at the track unattended.

All coached group sessions for junior and senior athletes will cease, including the Saturday Club and the Senior Strollers session.

You are still allowed to meet one other person to train with.

The monthly meeting on Wednesday 4th November and the annual general meeting on Wednesday 11th November will be held virtually via Zoom.

The second club cross country relay event on Saturday 14th November has been cancelled. However, we are in the early stages of arranging a number of virtual events throughout November.

I’m sure you’re as disappointed as I am with this situation but we have no choice.
