At the start of the month, Halesowen were due to host the Midland 5 and 7 races around an extended loop of the boxing day handicap course. However this was cancelled due to a flooded bridge to the tennis courts and a waterlogged course, and the race was rearranged.
Despite losing home advantage, the teams drove up to Nottingham at a pace that would set the trend for the day.
Firstly the women’s team of Lily Higgins, Sarah Thompson, Caroline Lambert and Captain Anna Cosimetti took the third team place, by a single point, with an individual bronze for Lily.
With excellent team packing, Captain Peter Dear led the team to victory with close support from Andy Yapp, Adam Cross, Mateusz Sliwinski, Kristian Bailey and James Hoult completing the scoring team, Phill Scarr, Alex Morgan, Andrew Carruthers, Richard Guest Bill Nock and Andy Nock, also competed for the club, with marshalling support from Mick Deakin. Prizes were presented by MCAA club President Bill Nock.
