Further to my previous communication it remains our recommendation that unnecessary travel between tiers to train should be avoided.
However, following the feedback we have received and further research we have carried out we can now confirm that there is sufficient, athletic related guidance confirming that exemptions apply to Under 18’s to travel to train in athletics, which we will adopt with immediate effect.
Therefore, if families living in a tier 2 area wish their children to attend training, please get in touch with the relevant coach to ensure that there is capacity for them to join in a particular session.
At peak times, Mon – Thu, 18:30 – 20:30, please only train at the club as part of an organised, coached group.
The indoor training facilities (Smithy & Athletics Gym) and changing rooms will remain closed.
This is a cautious approach considering cleaning protocols and managing access to the facilities.
This situation will be subject to ongoing reviews bearing in mind our limited facility management options compared to commercially operated facilities. We have provided basic toilet facilities with a portaloo on site.
It is not our intention to unduly prevent members of the club from exercising during these unprecedented times, the club committee have invested many hours of their free time to ensure that we all stay safe and to ensure that activities remain available in both the short and long term.
I would to thank all of the committee members for their support during this difficult time, if any one wishes to join the committee all interests in volunteering are welcomed.
Constructive feedback is welcome either directly to myself, Matt Allen, Kathryn Williets, Mick Deakin, or via your Coach or Captain. This will allow clear cordial conversations to happen, and any further updates will be shared.
Best Wishes and Season’s Greetings
