Bank Holiday and new kit update from club chair Steven Millington

Bank Holiday and new kit update from club chair Steven Millington

I hope you’ve all enjoyed the Bank Holiday sunshine, just a few things to talk about regarding Halesowen A & CC.

Namely, the use of the track, the Route 66 challenge, and finally……………the opening of the club’s online kit shop!!

First of all, following the re-opening of the club grounds for use last week, I was a little nervous that we’d have a load of stupidity, not respecting the timetable and a lack of social distancing etc. etc.

Thank you, so far, so good, no reports of inappropriate behaviour, keep up the good work and hopefully we’ll be back to some sort of normality very soon.

Second on the list, well done to all the young athletes that took part in the club’s “Route 66” challenge, completed in record time, ahead of schedule.

Many Thanks to Pete Barks who coordinated the activities and converted bike rides, star jumps and trampoline sessions into miles covered!!
His encyclopaedic knowledge of Route 66 also made it interesting for us oldies to follow.

We have got another similar challenge planned for the young athletes for later in the summer so keep training and we’ll unveil the details in a few weeks’ time.

Finally, for the past few weeks we’ve had on hold the opening of the club’s new, on-line kit store.

We did acquire four T-Shirts earlier in the year and we’ve been debating what to do with those before we officially opened the club shop.

After a lot of thought, and in recognition of the great efforts of our young athletes on the “End to End” and “Route 66” challenge we decided to hold a draw and give the t-shirts to some of the athletes that took part in the challenges.

The draw has been made, all above board and legal, and the winners of the T-Shirts are:

Jess Dale
Huw Brook
Robin Dolphin
Joe Webster,

Well done to those four individuals, T-shirts in the post to you this week.

Our reason for going “online” with the club kit was that we wanted to offer a wider range of club kit without having to invest in a load of stock.

I’m delighted to report that we’ve been able to team up with Pro-Am Kits to do just that, so if you’d like to take a look and place an order they are open for business, click on this link below or there’s a link on the club website:…/halesowen-athletic-cycling-c…

If you do place an order please ensure you get the sizing correct, they cannot accept returns once the garments have been personalised unless they are faulty in any way.

We will have garments available at the club in the future for sizing purposes but in the meantime double check on their comprehensive sizing charts.

I know it’ll be a while before we get the chance to turn up at an event in our new kit but when do there’ll be no excuses for not looking professional.

Club vests will still be stocked by the club and are available from the clubhouse (when we re-open) but in the meantime, knock yourselves out with the new club kit from Pro -Am!!

That’s all for now

Best Wishes

Steven Millington
