On the 10th November at Cob House Country Park 22 men from Halesowen Athletics attended the first of the Birmingham & District cross country league race. This was the first time that this race has been held here, so it was a completely new course for all. The 10km course (6 miles in Old money) consisted on one small lap followed by 3 large laps ; on a whole the route was generally flat although the large lap did have a 500m incline. The route was enjoyable as it passed through surrounding country side and the fishing ponds of Cob House Country Park, ground conditions were firm with a few muddy sections thrown in for good measure. The competitive spirit between all who raced only added to race, as people of different calibers raced against others who where of a similar caliber. First back for Halesowen was Kristen Bailey with a superb time of 35:17 & finished 10th overall second back for the club was Mateusz Sliwinski with a great time of 36:19. There were a lot of excellent runners who took part in the race and the level of athleticism was outstanding but I would like to thank all the guys from Halesowen Athletics who gave up their time to run for the club.
