IAN PRIEST REPORTS:
Halesowen’s young athletes took part in a strongly contested first fixture in the West Midland Young Athletes Cross Country League (WMYACCL) at Walsall Arboretum.
Our team finished in ninth position overall out of the 21 club teams present.
Our 30 athletes battled it out in every category and represented the club at Under 11, Under 13 ,Under 15 and Under 17 levels.
Halesowen fielded 12 debutant XC athletes who were all fully in the mix with some outstanding performances.

Achieving a massive individual first place finish in the Under 13 Girls event was Olive Thomas, sealing the win with a triumphant sprint finish in the last 100 metres.
The Under 15 girls showed the rest of the field how it’s done, with three of our finishers in the top six places, (3rd, 4th ,6th) with their fellow team mates close behind in 19th, 58th and 83rd respectively.
Other outstanding individual points of note were:
Jessica Dale – 3rd, U15 Girls.
