Max Parker has once again smashed the Halesowen Athletics Club record for the marathon.
After running 2:23:11 at the London Marathon, breaking Tony Bill’s long-standing 1985 record of 2:26:11 in the process, Max improved by over three minutes to finish 45th overall in 2:19:52.
He was also third British athlete on the day and his split times are something to behold showing remarkable consistency!
5k: 16:41 (3:20 per km, 5:21 per mile)
10k: 33:21 (3:20 per km, 5:21 per mile)
15k: 50:00 (3:19 per km, 5:20 per mile)
20k: 1:06:39 (3:19 per km, 5:20 per mile)
HALF: 1:10:21 (3:22 per km, 5:25 per mile)
25k: 1:23:03 (3:15 per km, 5:14 per mile)
26.1k: 1:26:44 (3:20 per km, 5:21 per mile)
30k: 1:39:35 (3:17 per km, 5:17 per mile)
31.1k: 1:43:11 (3:16 per km, 5:15 per mile)
35k: 1:56:07 (3:18 per km, 5:18 per mile)
36.1k: 1:59:45 (3:18 per km, 5:18 per mile)
40k: 2:12:39 (3:18 per km, 5:18 per mile)
FINISH 2:19:52 (3:17 per km, 5:17 per mile)
Apart from setting new club records for the 26.1k, 31.1k and 36.1k 😂, Max also ran a negative split completing the second half of the race 29 seconds quicker than the first.
Across the whole race, he ran at a pace of 5:20 per mile or 3:19 per kilometre.
Next time you are at the gym, try setting the treadmill speed to 18.1 km/hr or 11.25 mph to replicate Max’s incredible pace across 26.2 miles!
