League Cross Country action for Halesowen A&CC

Saturday saw Halesowen ladies go to Coundon Park Coventry for the Midland Ladies Cross Country League, while the men took on a new course at Cob House Country Park in div 2 of the Birmingham and District Cross country League.

The Ladies were led home by Lily Higgins in 5th place (1st Junior) she was well supported by newcomers Vicky Reed 74th and Lucy Cambridge in 89th.They were followed in by Sally Spencer 103rd, Kim Braznell 116th, Caroline Lambert 129th, Liz Tindle 137th, Eilish James 156th, Anna Cosimetti 169th and Helen Attwood 171st. Provisionally the Seniors are 17th and the Masters 14th.

In the men’s race first home for Halesowen was Kristian Bayley in a superb 10th, with the scoring 6 packing well, Mateusz Slivinski 20th, Roger Mallard 26th, Tom Kenderdine 32nd, and newcomer Andy Yapp 33rd, Adam Cross 34th, giving the first team 4th place only 6 points from the 2nd placed team.

The B team is in first place led home by Russ Cadwallader 46th, Marc Turner 47th, Jonathon Lewis 52nd and junior Matthew Wilkinson 62nd, Dave Lewis 83rd and completing the team James Hoult 97th. Next home was Bill Nock 102nd, Nick Hazelwood 112th, John Hill 143rd Alex Morgan 154th, Phil Scarr 156th, James Parker 164th, Andy Nock 174th, 201st Steve Millington, 210th Nigel Crompton and Steve Horton 217th.

Simone Jones took on the massive 700ft climb to finish 1st lady in the Betwys Trail 5K in a time of 28:38.

Next week sees the ladies and men’s teams taking on the Midland 5 and 7 miles respectively, while M70 Paul Allen runs in Swansea for Wales in the British and Irish Masters International.
